Vienna: Man bleeds to death in stairwell

A frightened resident alerted the police in Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Saturday morning because a man was behaving unusually in a stairwell. He had deep stab wounds. However, all help came too late for him.

When the emergency services arrived at the apartment building in Taborstraße at around 7.30 a.m., they discovered a deep stab wound in his lower body. Despite rapid first aid measures, all help came too late for the victim. The man succumbed to his injuries in the stairwell.

Was it someone else's fault?
The situation points to third-party fault, said police spokesman Markus Dittrich. The investigation is in full swing. The exact circumstances that led to the 43-year-old's death are now being determined.

Possible weapon not yet discovered
The weapon that may have been used to inflict the injury has not yet been found. The questioning of all witnesses should provide further clues.
