Austrian Post delivers parcels on Sunday for the first time

On Sunday, Austrian Post began a trial delivery of parcels on the seventh day of the week in the Viennese districts of Innere Stadt, Leopoldstadt, Landstraße and Wieden.

If the offer is well received by customers, then "all of Vienna and subsequently the surrounding area and other provincial capitals will follow in the first half of 2025", as Post AG announced at the end of September.

This not only makes the company a "first mover", but also brings innovation and market requirements together, emphasized Walter Oblin, the designated CEO of the partially state-owned, listed group.

"Ideally equipped for Black Friday"
 The launch in October means that Swiss Post is "ideally equipped for the peak season around Black Friday and Christmas", added Peter Umundum, Director of Parcel & Logistics at Post AG, in September.

For Sunday deliveries, Swiss Post uses external transport companies, pays a Sunday surcharge and ensures that working hours are compensated, the company assures.
