Truck carrying cheese and toast overturned on highway

In Bavaria, a truck loaded with cheese and toast overturned on the Autobahn 8 near Bernau am Chiemsee in the district of Rosenheim on Saturday night. Parts of the tasty load were scattered on the road.

According to the police, the driver was driving towards Salzburg in the early hours of the morning when he lost control of the vehicle on Bernauer Berg for an initially unknown reason. The truck crashed into the central crash barrier, then tipped to one side and blocked the left and middle lanes of the A8.

Firefighters secured the scene and provided first aid to the driver until the emergency services arrived. Fuel leaking from the truck - partly with cheese packets (see Facebook post below) - was collected and bound to prevent it from seeping into the ground.

Truck driver was slightly injured
According to the police, the 48-year-old truck driver was slightly injured and taken to hospital. The damage was estimated at around 200,000 euros. It took several hours to reload the freight.
