Electrocution at the station: victim (18) in mortal danger

A terrible accident at Tulln railroad station in Lower Austria: an 18-year-old climbed onto a parked wagon and was caught in the overhead power line circuit. The victim is currently fighting for his life. 

The young man suffered serious injuries in the incident, according to police spokeswoman Manuela Weinkirn. The 18-year-old was initially taken to Tulln University Hospital and then transported to Vienna General Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning. His life is in danger. 

Several fatal accidents at train stations
According to doctors, there has been a high number of fatal accidents at railroad stations in recent years. At the end of March, a 16-year-old boy climbed onto a parked train on ÖBB premises in Vienna-Penzing. The boy suffered an electric shock and later succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital.

A similar case occurred at the beginning of July in Schwechat, Lower Austria: a 16-year-old youth also climbed onto a parked railroad carriage, suffered an electric shock, was thrown to the ground and died at the scene of the accident.
