Glamorous farewell for Post General Georg Pölzl

Georg Pölzl served as CEO of Austrian Post for 15 years, leading the partially privatized company into the present day. His farewell from this position was a glittering celebration with many celebrities from politics and business at the Arsenal in Vienna.

Georg Pölzl had carefully planned this handover to his long-standing Management Board colleague Walter Oblin. He was able to place a well-established company in new hands: In the years under his management, Austrian Post became increasingly competitive, held its own against international competitors and has been very successful in Turkey, for example, for years.

In future, Georg Pölzl will have more time for his hobby: A sailing ship has been built especially for him abroad, and he has long since planned the routes.

The ceremony was accompanied by brass band music and the church blessing was provided by, how could it be otherwise, cathedral priest Toni Faber.

Numerous personalities from the worlds of business and politics were also present, including Economics Minister Martin Kocher, Women's and Integration Minister Susanne Raab, Vienna's Mayor Michael Ludwig, ÖBAG CEO Edith Hlawati, former VIG CEO and Chairwoman of the Post Supervisory Board Elisabeth Stadler, Wüstenrot CEO Susanne Riess-Hahn, National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka, Spar Austria CEO Markus Kaser and A1 Telekom Austria CEO Thomas Arnoldner.
