Another 275 million euros for broadband expansion

New subsidies for broadband expansion in Austria: As part of the third broadband funding call, the state is awarding a total of 275 million euros. The focus is on Styria.

"With this funding call, we are investing the remaining funds from the broadband billions and thus financing the last major projects to open up the last blank spots on the map of Austria," says Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP).

Application to FFG possible
The expansion of stable internet coverage is "essential for Austria as a business location". Applications for federal funding can be submitted to the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) until January 20, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Finance, Styria will receive the highest funding amount of 110 million euros. "The focus will be on previously underserved regions in Western Styria, Southern Styria and Eastern Styria," said Styrian Minister of Economic Affairs Barbara Eibinger-Miedl (ÖVP).
