Domestic violence: Girlfriend strangled and beaten

On Sunday night, the police in Vienna-Penzing were alerted after a 45-year-old woman was beaten bloody by her boyfriend and threatened with being killed.

Attentive witnesses initially found the injured woman in the stairwell and called the police at midnight. When the officers arrived, there was no trace of the woman.

After the police searched for the woman in the suspect's apartment, they found the injured 49-year-old woman. The 45-year-old was also in the apartment.

Strangled in the car
When questioned, the victim stated that she had been strangled in the back seat of the car and threatened with being killed. Later in the apartment, he had then coerced her with a bread knife.

Preliminary arrest
The 45-year-old was provisionally arrested and banned from entering and approaching. The injured woman refused emergency medical treatment by the emergency services. The knife was seized in the kitchen.
