Alongside a job: New training for elementary educators

Retraining or completing a pedagogical training course alongside your current job: This is now possible via the new college for working people at the Federal Training Institute for Elementary Education (BAfEP) Innsbruck.

There were already many training opportunities in the field of elementary education in Tyrol: from schools with a focus on elementary education, to a Bachelor's degree, to lateral entry opportunities via university courses or the "Elementarpädagogik Tirol" placement foundation of the state of Tyrol, the AMS and amg-tirol.

At the launch of the new training course, Cornelia Hagele, Head of Education, Reinhold Raffler and Werner Mayr, Head of Education at the Tyrolean Directorate of Education, visited the 30 students on site.

The newly designed college enables students to study elementary education while working.

Training lasts four semesters
"The newly designed college for professionals at the BAfEP Innsbruck enables students, especially those from the peripheral regions of Tyrol as well as lateral entrants, to study elementary education while working," says Hagele.

In a total of four semesters, i.e. two years, students are trained as elementary educators. After completing the diploma examination for elementary education, they can work in a crèche, kindergarten or after-school care center. The college is specially designed for career changers and those who wish to gain further qualifications in the field of elementary education.
