What a bitter start for SK Sturm Graz to the new season in the top tier of European soccer: just a few minutes after the final notes of the famous Champions League anthem had faded and even fewer minutes after the kick-off for the away game at Stade Brest, the Austrian champions lost their defensive boss Gregory Wüthrich to a presumably serious injury!

Only four minutes had been played when the Swiss player fell to the turf after a duel with Brest striker Ludovic Ajorque and was left lying on the pitch.

Face contorted in pain
As Wüthrich alternately grabbed his pain-racked face and knee, it dawned all too quickly on the Sturm management team led by coach Christian Ilzer that the defender would probably not be able to continue ...
