Man breaks his ankle in fatal stumble

A serious accident at work occurred in Wolfurt on Tuesday. A 46-year-old construction worker tripped over several large stones and fell badly.

The man was working on various jobs at the Wolfurt railroad station construction site. While descending the stairs into the old railroad underpass, he suddenly had a mishap: in a moment of carelessness, he tripped over several large stones and fell to the ground.

On impact, the worker suffered a very painful fracture to his left ankle. After initial treatment by the ambulance service, the 46-year-old had to be rescued from the underpass by the fire department - he was then taken to Bregenz Regional Hospital.
