Body found on the Ach: woman was probably a victim of violence

The dead woman found in Kennelbach near Bregenz on Sunday was probably the victim of violence. This was announced by the Vorarlberg police on the basis of the autopsy results. However, the identity of the victim is still unknown and no missing persons report has been filed. 

"Extensive evidence analysis and interviews with possible informants are currently underway. Further information on the facts of the case, in particular the cause of death, cannot be disclosed at present for tactical investigative reasons," the police said.

The body was found on Sunday by a couple in the riparian forest of the Bregenzer Ache not far from an allotment garden. The police have asked anyone who may have noticed anything in connection with the crime in Achstraße in Kennelbach in the past week to contact the State Office of Criminal Investigation.

According to investigators, the woman had probably been lying in the alluvial forest for some time, as it was no longer possible to determine her gender before the autopsy. Mrs. K., who discovered the body with her husband, is not so sure: "I often look for driftwood there - there was nothing. The body had been there for four days at most." She and her partner are often out and about in the forest. The investigation continues.
