Stones repeatedly thrown at passing cars

A Tyrolean felt pursued by passing vehicles and repeatedly chased them. In court, the 66-year-old acknowledged his problematic behavior and does not have to go to an institution.

The now 66-year-old Tyrolean kept the police busy for months. Police officers were repeatedly called to his home. The senior citizen had apparently set up a "high seat" there and hunted cars that happened to be passing by. Even a six-month conditional prison sentence did not stop him from continuing.

Medication helps
"I felt like I was being chased by the cars," he said, visibly distracted, before the Innsbruck provincial court and described his motives. However, medication would now prevent him from committing further crimes. He also recognizes the danger of his actions. "He has proven that he can cope well with medication in the wild," emphasized an expert witness.

Refraining from placement
After a brief deliberation, the panel of lay judges chaired by Judge Andreas Mair agreed with the expert's assessment and the defense lawyer's view that his client should not be placed in a forensic therapy center.

"Subject to the condition of probation assistance, placement is waived for a probationary period of five years," the senate announced. However, the accused must report regularly on his "plasma level" and at best use a "depot injection".
