Guschlbauer expands by 18 million euros

Number one in Austria for Danish pastries, the largest Kornspitz producer in the world - the superlatives are overused when talking about baked goods manufacturer Guschlbauer. Because production is at its limit, the excavators will probably be rolling in this spring. The expansion will cost 18 million euros.

Burger buns for the Burgerista chain, which operates from Traun, are produced in Waizenkirchen, as are organic Kornspitz biscuits for the Rewe brand "Ja! Natürlich", as well as Topfen-Golatschen, Marillen-Spitz, ciabatta and baguettes, strudels and much more. Guschlbauer produced around 110 million baked goods last year, with turnover rising to 29.5 million euros.

"We have reached the limits of our current capacity. Last year, we had to turn down orders from major customers for the first time," says Robert Guschlbauer, who runs the business together with his wife Elisabeth and currently employs 120 people.

Production in the new building will continue until June 2021
In order to meet the high demand - including for new products such as skyr blueberry Danish pastry and walnut croissants - Guschlbauer is now getting the diggers rolling. A new building is being added to the production facility, which will house two new production lines as well as additional parking spaces. "There will also be new social rooms for our employees," says Elisabeth Guschlbauer. 18 million is being invested in the expansion, for which construction negotiations are currently underway. Production is scheduled to start in the new building by June 2021.
