Federal Minister Rauch is menstruating

The election campaign remains exciting. Austria's health minister sets off for new shores.

"The history of menstruation is a history full of misunderstandings", says the tampon advertisement, and so it was only a matter of time before Federal Minister Johannes Rauch from the Green Party also spoke about his period in front of the camera.

Some may wonder how this is possible, and the explanation is obvious: Rauch had himself connected to a so-called menstrual simulator for a video on Instagram in order to recreate the pain experienced by women. So there stands Rauch, talking about a health report while cables hang out of his shirt-covered body.

It pinches
"It's pinching a bit more now," says the minister with wide eyes, then he grimaces as if he's bitten into a lemon, because it's "pinching" him more and more often now.

There is nothing to be said for such tests - ever since Harald Vilimsky of the FPÖ had himself tasered, we have also known that the consequences are often still noticeable years later.

In any case, this year's election campaign is already full of embarrassments. And before Minister Alma Zadić hangs herself on the prostate examination simulator to compensate, let's clear things up: There is a Punch of the Week for such actions.

What makes Rauch's action even more bizarre: at 65, he has long since gone through the menopause.
