Knife man triggers a major alert in Vorarlberg

A large-scale police operation took place on Tuesday in the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley community of Kennelbach. Passers-by had discovered a man on a hiking trail who was wildly stabbing himself with knives.

On Tuesday, shortly before midday, the police were informed that a man was carrying out various stabbing exercises on a hiking trail in Kennelbach with two knives in his hands. Due to the report and the unclear circumstances, several police patrols were sent to the specified location, where the knifeman was finally found and stopped.

During the subsequent check at Bregenz police station, the man stated that he wanted to use the knives to protect himself against dogs. After his identity was established, he was released and a report will be submitted to the Bregenz district authority.

The police would like to point out that such behavior in public spaces leads to unnecessary police interventions.
