Car caught fire on the Tauern highway

Smoke was the warning sign that a driver on the A10 highway fortunately noticed on Saturday afternoon. The driver from Germany left the vehicle with his family and shortly afterwards it was ablaze.

A car fire on the A10 came to a very mild end for the passengers. Shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday, their car caught fire in the direction of Salzburg. The driver, a 46-year-old German, noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment shortly beforehand. He stopped on the emergency lane before the Hiefler tunnel and left the vehicle with his family.

Shortly afterwards, the car was ablaze. According to the police, independent attempts to extinguish the fire were in vain. Only the Golling volunteer fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The closure in the affected area was lifted again after the extinguishing and cleaning work. No one was injured.
