As the Spanish newspaper "Sport" reports, Barca would like to sign the 24-year-old winger after the transfer of European Championship hero Nico Williams failed to materialize. Sancho was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga last season and impressed. BVB would like to sign Sancho, but the transfer fee and salary package is far too expensive.

Probably only possible on loan
Now Barcelona have entered the picture, sporting director Deco is said to be very taken with Sancho and would like to bring him to Catalonia. The catch is that United are demanding a transfer fee of around 40 million euros, a big chunk of money for Barca, who have been in financial difficulties for years.

Barcelona could therefore consider a loan, but would then only be willing to pay part of the super-earner's salary - and United are unlikely to go along with this.

Not in the squad against Fulham
In any case, Sancho does not appear to have a future in Manchester, even though he recently reconciled with coach Erik ten Hag. On the first matchday against Fulham, the 24-year-old was not in United's squad.
