Ronaldo surprises fans with new mega project

There has been much speculation in recent days about a cryptic post - now the cat is out of the bag! Cristiano Ronaldo announced the launch of his own YouTube channel on Wednesday - and it went viral within just a few hours.

"I'm very happy to bring this project to life. I've had it in my head for a long time, but now we finally have the opportunity to make it a reality," explained the five-time world footballer on Instagram, where he is the lone leader with 630 million followers. Now Ronaldo apparently wants to expand his empire further. 

The 39-year-old Portuguese: "I've always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with my fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform for that and they will get to know more about me, my family and my views on many different topics. I'm also looking forward to having conversations with guests that will no doubt surprise people!"

Six million subscribers
And "CR7" got straight down to business! Just a few minutes after the announcement, several videos were online on the channel. These included a quiz with his model partner Georgina Rodriguez (30) and a free-kick challenge with his son Cristiano Jr. (14). Incredible: after just six hours, the channel had over six million subscribers!
