Denmark: criminals recruit young Swedes

The problem of Swedish gang wars is not only a concern for the authorities in Sweden. For some time now, criminal organizations in Denmark have been recruiting young Swedes for their bloody acts of violence via Telegram, for example.

43,000 euros for contract killings
The young Swedes are offered insane sums of money. According to the Danish broadcaster DR, up to 325,000 Danish kroner (43,000 euros) is being offered for a murder. The Danish police have registered 25 cases since April in which Swedish citizens were involved.

Teenagers as killers
In Sweden, the problem has been the focus of the authorities for some time. As recently as June, it was revealed that three teenagers had agreed to kill several people. The teenagers, aged 15 and 16, were supposed to have received 150,000 Swedish crowns (around 13,400 euros) per person killed. 

The teenagers were caught and are now standing trial - but this does not appear to be a deterrent for others. According to estimates by the Swedish police, more than 60,000 people in the country of around eleven million inhabitants have links to criminal gangs. Of these, around 14,000 are active in criminal networks.

Deadly shootings and explosive attacks occur time and again due to gang conflicts. It is not uncommon for innocent bystanders to be shot.
