Voestalpine expands US plant by EUR 70 million

voestalpine has already invested more than EUR 270 million in Linz and Donawitz in the development of green steel production, and a blast furnace in Upper Austria is currently being repaired at a cost of EUR 30 million. And now the steel group is also spending huge sums in the USA. One plant is now being expanded.

In Jeffersonville in the US state of Indiana, voestalpine is investing EUR 70 million and creating 110 new jobs - this was announced by the steel and technology group based in Linz (Upper Austria) on Monday.

Production at the plant will increase by 15,000 square meters, doubling capacity to 80,000 tons - all because voestalpine has secured major orders for renowned truck manufacturers. High-quality side members for Class 6, 7 and 8 trucks will then be produced there.

"With this investment we are expanding our global production network and can therefore produce top quality products in close proximity to our customers," says Carola Richter, member of the voestalpine Management Board and head of the Metal Forming Division, which stands for highly developed section, tube and precision strip steel products.
