Escape on bikes: Big manhunt for two boys

Linzers will have noticed: On Thursday evening, police in the provincial capital searched from the air and on the ground for two men (36 and 39) who allegedly broke into the Industriezeile. One then fled on a bicycle, the other on foot. Both are now "in custody".

On Thursday evening, a police helicopter circled over Linz. The reason: two "lads" who were still unknown at the time, who later turned out to be adult men, are said to have committed a burglary in Industriezeile, or at least attempted to do so. The police initially suspected that the two men probably wanted to steal bicycles.

The two men then fled - one on foot, the other on a bicycle.

Two arrests
The police launched a large manhunt for the two wanted men and were able to stop their escape attempts quickly. Both were arrested, apparently in Petzoldstraße in one case and in Hafenstraße in the other. The suspects are therefore unlikely to have got very far.

They are a 36-year-old and a 39-year-old, both from the Czech Republic. They were initially taken to the police detention center. The investigation is ongoing.
