Gold duo Vadlau/Mähr are Austria’s flag bearers

Lara Vadlau and Lukas Mähr are the flag bearers for Austria at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games this Sunday evening in the Stade de France in Paris. The sailors won the gold medal in the 470 class off Marseille. The closing ceremony begins at 9 p.m. The next Summer Games will take place in Los Angeles in 2028.

"They are very dignified flag bearers, namely our gold medal winners Lara and Lukas," said Karl Stoss, President of the Austrian Olympic Committee, at the press conference on Sunday at Austria House.

"The moment when we received the gold medal on the beach in Marseille was very moving. We both had tears in our eyes. Being able to carry the flag for Olympic Team Austria at the Olympic closing ceremony will be another Olympic moment that we will never forget. A great honor," the duo is quoted as saying in an ÖOC statement.
