Car crashes into tree – driver trapped in car

On Friday night, a 44-year-old man left the road in his car on the rain-soaked Grossgmainer Landesstraße (Salzburg). His car crashed into a tree without braking. The impact was so powerful that the engine block including the radiator and a front wheel were severed from the car. 

The driver was trapped in the wreckage. A doctor who happened to be passing by attended to the injured man. The men from the Großgmain and Wals-Siezenheim volunteer fire departments freed the man using hydraulic rescue equipment.

 The Red Cross took him to the Salzburg regional hospital.
