US-American Hall with top finish to 400 m gold!

Quincy Hall won the gold medal in the 400 m at the Olympic Games in Paris with a brilliant final sprint!

The US-American overtook three competitors after the last bend and caught the British World Championship silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith (43.44) in 43.40 seconds. Bronze went to Muzala Samukonga from Zambia.

Australia's Nina Kennedy triumphed in the pole vault (4.90 m), while Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali defended his title in the 3,000 m steeplechase.

World record holder Lamecha Girma from Ethiopia stumbled over a hurdle on the last lap and landed hard on the track. He remained motionless before the medical team carried him off on a stretcher.
