He didn't even have his driving license in his pocket, just a temporary paper slip. Nevertheless, an 18-year-old from Rechberg got behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level of 2.38 - and promptly left the road and crashed into a stone. Fortunately, he only suffered minor injuries.

At driving school, you learn that it is best not to drink alcohol before driving a vehicle and that you should definitely not drive if you have a blood alcohol level of 0.5 or more. The 18-year-old Rechberger should have remembered this well, as he had only received his driver's license in July.

Rolling over after a crash with a stone
Nevertheless, the young man from Mühlviertel got behind the wheel of a car late on Saturday evening and drove from St. Thomas am Blasenstein in the direction of his home town. At around 9 p.m., he left the road on a right-hand bend and hit a granite rock at the edge of the forest. The car overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Freshly printed driver's license confiscated
Two passers-by came to the aid of the slightly injured 18-year-old, who was able to free himself from the wreckage. His provisional driver's license, which was still hot off the press, was confiscated straight away. After first aid by the Red Cross, he was taken to Freistadt Hospital for further medical treatment. The car was totaled.
