Child (7) pushed under boat in rafting accident

In a rafting accident on the Lech river on Friday, a seven-year-old boy from Germany was pushed under a boat by the water for several minutes. He was resuscitated. 

At around 2.30 pm on Friday, six guests and a guide set off on a rafting tour on the Lech in Bach.

When passing the Nikolausbrücke bridge, the boat got stuck on a bridge pillar and overturned. Five guests and the guide were able to rescue themselves on the shore.

However, a seven-year-old boy from Germany remained under the boat for several minutes until the guide was able to rescue him and bring him to shore. After successful resuscitation, the child was flown by rescue helicopter to Innsbruck Hospital.

A rescue helicopter, the ambulance service, the Elbigenalp fire department, a crisis intervention team and the police were deployed.
