Stabbing near the Votive Church in Vienna! Frightened passers-by witnessed a wild altercation in the homeless neighborhood shortly before midnight on Monday. What at first "only" looked like a tangible brawl quickly developed into a highly dangerous situation. One of the men suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed his opponent with brute force.

The violence occurred during the night in Sigmund Freud Park next to the Votive Church. A group of young people witnessed how the argument escalated and one of the men suddenly reached for the knife. He is said to have stabbed his opponent several times in the stomach. The victim fell to the ground covered in blood and remained seriously injured. Search for the perpetrator was unsuccessful
Witnesses immediately alerted the emergency services and initiated first aid measures. They probably saved the homeless man's life. The suspect - who is said to be around 50 to 70 years old, white-haired and white-bearded - could not be caught. According to the Vienna police, the man was wearing a white shirt and beige trousers at the time of the crime. 

Victim now out of danger
The injured 53-year-old had to be taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery. "In the meantime, the injured man is no longer in mortal danger," announced police spokeswoman Julia Schick. The investigation is ongoing and the perpetrator is still being sought. However, as both men are said to be known to the police, the manhunt should soon be over. Severe penalties loom!
