Wanted to check on grazing cattle: Tyrolean man died

In Maria Alm in Salzburg's Pinzgau region, a 66-year-old Tyrolean man died on Saturday after trying to check on his grazing cattle. 

The man had fallen around 50 meters into a steep gully on the east side of the Hundstein. He had been looked for by an acquaintance on Saturday morning because he had not come to the agreed meeting point in Maria Alm.

The woman knew that the 66-year-old wanted to visit his grazing cattle near the Waxeggalm in Maria Alm. She therefore went there, found the injured man at around 3 pm and alerted the emergency services.

However, all help came too late for the Tyrolean, who was rescued by police helicopter.
