Florianis as “car thieves”: toddler rescued

A toddler became trapped in a car due to a technical defect. The fire department rushed to rescue the one-year-old, who quickly stopped crying and started laughing when he saw the uniformed emergency services. The little man was then carefully rescued.

Alarm for the Schwarzenau fire department in the Zwettl district: the mother left the keys in her car, slammed the car door shut - suddenly the car locked and could no longer be opened. The one-year-old son was locked in the passenger seat.

Six firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene near the old elementary school. "As the temperatures weren't that hot at the time, the crying little boy was quickly calmed down by the new comrades' entertainment and even laughed, we were able to proceed more carefully," fire department commander Michael Hartner told the "Krone" newspaper.

High costs saved by resourceful "car thieves"
The quick rescue would have involved smashing a side window, which would have cost the mother a lot of money. So the resourceful firefighters forced a door open slightly with wooden wedges and shaped a wire to unlock the inner door lock. A cost-saving rescue in 20 minutes and a great Floriani adventure for the little man.
