Weeks of rest! Kainz operated on by specialist

Cologne captain Florian Kainz was operated on by a specialist flown in on Tuesday. The Austrian will miss the relegated Bundesliga team for six to eight weeks. 

According to "Bild", a specialist in foot and ankle surgery was flown in especially for the operation on Tuesday. Dr. Nunzio Ricciardo even broke off his vacation.

Season opener falls through
"Everything went according to plan. Several ligaments in the ankle were affected, which is why the doctors suggested surgery to repair it. That was the right approach," said FC managing director Christian Keller. Kainz will therefore be out for six to eight weeks and will also miss the start of the season and the important games against HSV and Schalke.

The Austrian team player injured himself on Saturday in the test match against Viktoria Köln in the final phase without any outside influence. The 31-year-old was in the Austrian European Championship squad but did not play.
