Restaurant burglary: perpetrator was still lurking around nearby

It's a real cliché from crime movies that perpetrators return to the scene of their crime, but it's rare for them to stay there.

In the night before Tuesday, "as yet unknown perpetrators" struck at a pub in the center of Klagenfurt and robbed the restaurant of several hundred euros and various alcoholic beverages. A patrol from the St. Ruprechter Straße police station investigated the incident. "During the investigation, a 25-year-old man from Klagenfurt behaved suspiciously at the scene of the crime," the police report. This aroused the interest of the patrol.

"When questioned by the officers, he revealed knowledge that could only be known to the perpetrator and became entangled in contradictions during further questioning," the police explain. "The man refused to make a statement in a written interrogation." He is now likely to face legal consequences - the forensics carried out by the operational criminal investigation department should bring further evidence to light.

There are still no concrete leads on the burglars who were active in Annabichl on the same night. "The perpetrators broke open the padlock of the Klagenfurt city council's construction container and stole various high-quality tools from inside," said the police.
