Drunk man climbs onto roof and triggers an operation

A young man from the Graz area caused a huge incident in Graz-Waltendorf on Sunday. The curious incident is likely to cost the 24-year-old, who was drunk, dearly.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday, an attentive passer-by called the emergency services: a man was on the roof of a four-storey apartment building and threatening to fall down. He had climbed onto the roof via a balcony and scaffolding. 

16 members of the Graz professional fire department, the Red Cross and an emergency doctor were deployed to Waltendorf because the man was not responding to calls. He was eventually rescued safely by the fire department.

"Fell asleep while sunbathing"
The 24-year-old was heavily intoxicated, according to the police, he had just wanted to sunbathe and fell asleep. He will be reported to the police and a report will be submitted to the authorities to cover the costs of the operation.
