A 59-year-old man from Flachgau found a villa in France on an internet platform that he wanted to book for his family. The man contacted the provider by email and negotiated the conditions for the vacation accommodation. The 59-year-old was then sent a link to book the villa and used it to make a bank transfer.

After the transaction, contact with the landlord was lost. The villa could no longer be found on the internet platform either. The man from Flachgau filed a complaint. The victim suffered a loss of around 12,000 euros as a result of the fraud.
