More radar boxes to slow down speeders on the Glockner

The police on the Salzburg side of the Glockner are on duty for an hour a day. The 70 speed limit introduced in March 2022 is reflected in penalties.

The speeding problem on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road has been specifically combated since March 2022. Salzburg's State Police Director Bernhard Rausch points out the close cooperation with the road company GROHAG on the Salzburg side.

Since then, the speed limit has been 70 instead of 100 km/h. The police at the Bruck an der Glocknerstraße police station carry out checks for at least an hour every day - and also impose penalties on a daily basis.

"We are looking at other locations for speed cameras. We take action against so-called donuts and burn-outs with charges of damage to property," explains Rausch. Increased speeding by sports car drivers has not been noticed recently.
