Open air: Folkshilfe rocks with the Bruckner Orchestra

Anton Bruckner's 200th birthday brings another highlight: the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and its chief conductor Markus Poschner invite you to an open-air concert with free admission on Linz's main square. Among the "birthday guests" is the band Folkshilfe.

"It's an absolute honor for us and simply amazing", Paul Slaviczek and Gabriel Fröhlich from "Folkshilfe" cheer. The popular "Quetschn-Synthi-Pop" band from Upper Austria is taking part in the birthday party for the great Anton, which Markus Poschner is organizing with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz (BOL).

A good start to the summer
Poschner is not spilling the beans either, as the musical party will take place on Thursday, July 4, at 8 p.m. as an open-air event on Linz's main square with free admission.

"Being able to celebrate our namesake Anton Bruckner in the middle of his city with so many people will give us a unique concert event," he says confidently. He will conduct "orchestral gems from Bruckner's cosmos, from Rossini to John Williams". Folkshilfe hits will be transformed into a symphonic tapestry of sound by composer Johannes Berauer.

Another guest: the young Austrian cello virtuoso Kian Soltani will perform Friedrich Gulda's legendary concerto for cello and wind orchestra with the BOL.

In Anton's "Bermuda Triangle"
Norbert Trawöger, Artistic Director of the Upper Austrian cultural EXPO Anton Bruckner 2024, emphasizes: "The main square with the neighbouring Old Cathedral - Bruckner's former place of work - and the restaurants of Linz's old town all around is a Brucknerian Bermuda Triangle."

This special birthday concert was made possible by the Tyle Private Foundation of the entrepreneur Dionys Lehner (Linz Textil), who died a year ago. It was his special wish.
