Woman stabbed to death, perpetrator on the run

A woman was stabbed to death in the small German town of Weingarten near Karlsruhe on Tuesday night. The perpetrator initially managed to escape, but police were able to arrest a suspect on Tuesday morning.

According to the investigators, the woman was attacked with a knife in an apartment in Karlstraße at around midnight and fatally injured.

Houses surrounded and searched
In the course of the search for the perpetrator, numerous houses were surrounded and searched in the vicinity of the crime scene and drivers were urged not to hitch a ride.

After hours of searching, during which helicopters were also used, a suspect (25) was finally arrested on Tuesday morning.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the man comes from Montenegro. He and the deceased knew each other.
