Teenagers set car on fire out of boredom

The initial denial of a young couple was of no avail: eyewitnesses proved that they had set fire to the car. When questioned, they also blew the whistle on their 15-year-old brother. The motive of the young trio was boredom.

After extensive investigations, the Ebensee police department was able to establish arson. On June 2, a car parked on a company premises was set on fire by a firework. Information from witnesses was ultimately decisive in the investigation. They claimed to have seen a vehicle driving away from the company premises at the time of the crime.

Comprehensive confession
Through extensive investigations, the police were able to track down the 18-year-old license plate owner and his 17-year-old girlfriend, both from Ebensee. They initially protested their innocence and stated on record that they had been out for a walk at the time of the crime. During questioning, however, they made an extensive confession and also named the woman's 15-year-old brother as a co-accused.

He also made a confession. As to the motive, they stated that they had acted out of boredom. The three were released.
