Defying the forecast:

With a lot of courage to the Martinsberg full moon

The storm forecast and the European Football Championship didn't stop "Krone" readers from traveling to the Waldviertel to the Martinsberg Astronomical Center. The stars there usually shine a little brighter than elsewhere. This time, the team at the observatory shone brightly and provided a warm welcome.

The winners of the "Krone" full moon hike at the Martinsberg observatory in the Waldviertel (photo) defied everything! Despite bad weather forecasts - even thunderstorms were predicted - and the Austrian match of the European Football Championship taking place, the brave "Krone" readers gathered in the Zwettl district to find out more about the moon and the stars.

Unfortunately, the Earth's satellite hid behind the clouds until the very end. By chance, however, the winners were able to watch a distant firework display and a nearby solstice bonfire.

The observatory team made the best of it and made for an exciting evening with lots of great pictures and interesting presentations.
