Also in Graz: climate activist starts prison sentence

The first climate activist is now also serving his prison sentence in Graz - and things could get even worse for the student.

At the beginning of June, five members of the so-called Last Generation were already imprisoned - now a Styrian activist has also been caught. Student Simon Marcher spent at least three days in alternative custody in Graz. According to the Last Generation, his fine amounts to a hefty 13,000 euros or around 300 days in alternative custody (not yet legally binding). 

"What I have to pay for my protests is nothing compared to what the consequences of a climate catastrophe will take away from us if our government remains inactive. It would seem absurd to me to simply ignore this fact," said Marcher shortly before his arrest.
