Driver jumped out of falling tractor

A tractor weighing around five tons plunged about 150 meters down a steep slope on Thursday morning. The driver was able to save himself at the last moment.

Despite all attempts to brake, the tractor began to roll down the steep slope. The driver was able to get out of the cab at the last moment before the vehicle crashed down the slope. The braking system was probably defective.

The tractor was a total loss. 20 men from the Dorfgastein volunteer fire department first secured the vehicle and collected any leaking fuel. The tractor was then recovered with the help of a specialist company. The operation took around four hours.
