Driver crashes into power distribution board with a blood alcohol level of 2

A spectacular car accident occurred on Saturday in Roppen in the Tyrolean district of Imst: A 22-year-old driver skidded on the rain-soaked road and crashed into two distribution boxes. A witness was able to prevent the driver from fleeing the scene. He had filled up with gas.

The 22-year-old local was driving on the B171 through the municipality of Roppen shortly after 9 pm when the accident occurred: Due to aquaplaning, the man's car skidded and left the road. The car ran over an electricity distribution box and another distribution box belonging to a mobile phone operator. It then crashed into a sign for the municipality of Roppen. This became wedged under the vehicle involved in the accident. 

Driver's license gone
The driver was uninjured in the crash and tried to leave the scene of the accident on foot. A witness managed to dissuade him from this idea by persuading him. During a breathalyzer test, the police determined that the driver had more than two per mille of alcohol in his blood. His driver's license was confiscated on the spot. 

The Roppen fire department illuminated the scene of the accident and secured the damaged power distribution box until it was switched off. The 22-year-old's car also sustained considerable damage.
