Dominant UAE duo parries Felix Gall’s attack!

Professional cyclist Felix Gall launched a solo attack on the penultimate day of the Tour de Suisse on the final climb, but the East Tyrolean was caught again and ultimately finished ninth!

Victory on the 118-kilometer stage with 3000 meters of climbing to Villars-sur-Ollon once again went to the dominant UAE duo Adam Yates and Joao Almeida, who rode hand in hand across the line unchallenged. The two took it in turns to win the last three stages with double victories.

In the overall classification, Briton Yates leads 31 seconds ahead of Almeida before Sunday's final 16-kilometre mountain time trial from Aigle to Villars-sur-Ollon. The rest are already two minutes or more behind. Gall is still almost five minutes back in ninth place.

On Saturday, he lost around half a minute to the UAE tandem, which caught and overtook him 1.7 kilometers before the finish after a solo ride lasting several minutes. In the final phase, Gall had to let other rivals such as Egan Bernal (Ineos) go, who had already been better than him in the course of the tour so far.

Gall had won a stage and finished second in last year's Tour de Suisse. He finished eighth in the final classification before also causing a sensation in the Tour de France.
