Robbery in Vienna subway: Man faked crime

A 22-year-old man was allegedly robbed and threatened with a knife in a Vienna subway train. The young man immediately filed a complaint with the Vienna police. Now it turns out: it was all fiction. The Austrian is said to have been "heavily intoxicated" that evening ... 

According to the Vienna police, the 22-year-old came to the police station at the beginning of June and described the incident. He was threatened with a butterfly knife by two unknown male perpetrators in a subway car that night and then robbed.

Robbery never took place
In the course of the investigation and evaluation of the video sequences secured, the investigators were able to establish that no such incident had taken place at the specified locations. 

Man was heavily intoxicated
The man was therefore questioned again and confronted with what he had learned. He then told the officers that he had been very drunk that evening. The incident had occurred in his "memory". The Austrian refused to make any further statements. 

He was reported to the police on suspicion of faking an offense punishable by law and giving false evidence.
