Pass Lueg: B159 soon passable again

The wait will soon be over: according to the Tennengau road maintenance department, the safety work required to ensure safe travel on the B159 after the rockfall can be completed on schedule by Wednesday at 6 pm. From this point onwards, the road will be open again with two lanes.

 

However: In the coming weeks, there may be short-term stoppages for further work. In addition to the danger zone, the road maintenance department has also erected concrete barriers with mesh elements to protect the road until the rockfall barriers on the mountain side are finally rebuilt. The latter work will be finalized in the coming weeks.

Further short-term closures possible

State geologist Rainer Braunstingl: "You have to understand that this installation along the danger zone provides additional protection against falling rocks. In a further step, individual trees or other stones will now be removed from safety nets on the mountain and the safety nets will be repaired at these points. In the event that stones fall onto the road during this work, we have to take precautions and stop traffic for a short time."
