Future decision on ÖFB team goalie made!

ÖFB team goalkeeper Patrick Pentz signs a long-term contract with Danish runners-up Bröndby before the European Championship. The loan from Bayer Leverkusen has thus been converted into a purchase. Pentz's new contract is valid until 2028. 

Pentz was loaned to Brøndby by Leverkusen for one season last summer and has now been permanently released by the new German champions. "Patrick Pentz played a key role in our good results last season and won the hearts of both fans and players with his positive and professional attitude, so all parties are very happy with a permanent contract," explained Brøndby's director of soccer Carsten V. Jensen.

The Salzburg native moved from Stade Reims to Leverkusen in January 2023, but had to make do with the role of backup goalkeeper and did not feature in the German Bundesliga. Pentz became the regular goalkeeper at Brøndby and also took over in goal for the Austrian national team following Alexander Schlager's injury.

"We want to play at the top in Denmark every season, and the agreement with Patrick underlines this focus. His performances last season speak for themselves, he showed a really high level and in my eyes was the best goalkeeper in the Superliga," said Jensen.
