A Styrian man is said to have literally executed his scantily clad wife in St. Stefan ob Leoben, who had fled the house before him. Neighbors cannot explain the crime - a crime that also involves dark secrets.

The mood in the Styrian village of St. Stefan ob Leoben, population 1,900, is sombre. Dramatic scenes took place there on Monday in the middle of an idyllic housing estate. A day later, journalists are milling around the detached house, which belongs to a pensioner who found out about the terrible news on his vacation trip of all places.

"Yes, the owner wasn't at home," reports a neighbor in an interview with the "Krone" newspaper. During his absence, his son (52) was supposed to look after his father's property - his mother had already passed away. At least that's what the people living next door thought. But the 52-year-old and his wife (45) apparently had more plans.
