Stranger rescues 19-year-old from accident wreck

After a "slip", a 19-year-old driver ended up with his car upside down in a flooding stream in Upper Austria. A witness reacted with presence of mind and freed the young man from the wreckage. Miraculously, the 19-year-old was uninjured.

A 19-year-old from Zell an der Pram was very lucky in a traffic accident on Saturday at around 4.15 pm. He had been driving his car on the L1065 in pouring rain. In a right-hand bend in the Riegerting area, the young driver drove onto the oncoming lane and onto the verge before veering off the road to the right and hitting a tree trunk.

Rear door ripped open
As a result, the car overturned and landed on its roof in a flooding stream. An unknown first aider prevented the worst. He jumped into the stream and pulled open the back door of the car with all his strength so that the 19-year-old could climb out on his own. The latter was taken to hospital as a precaution.

No injuries found
However, no injuries were found there. Without the immediate help of the stranger, the accident would probably have gone unnoticed for a long time because the stream is densely overgrown and therefore very difficult to see.
