Diver with problems under water for an hour

Barely a month has passed since a Pole had a fatal accident at the "Schwarze Brücke" diving site in Lake Attersee. Now there has been another incident here, which fortunately had a minor outcome. But an underwater sportsman must have feared for his life for an hour.

A 43-year-old from Lower Austria went on a diving trip with colleagues in the area of the so-called "Black Bridge" on Lake Attersee in the Steinbach am Attersee district at around midday on May 26, 2024. The group dived to a depth of around 45 meters, at which point the 43-year-old suddenly developed problems with pressure equalization.

He therefore remained at a depth of around six meters for about an hour, but his companions then alerted the emergency doctor. The diver was flown by the "Martin 3" rescue helicopter to a decompression chamber at Murnau Hospital in Bavaria for clarification.
