Little speed in Monaco

Wolff bored: “I got myself an espresso”

Apart from the dramatic start, the Monaco Grand Prix was not exactly adorned with any major highlights. Even Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff would have liked more speed, admitting in an ORF interview after the race: "I grabbed a yogurt and an espresso in between."

He had never done this before during a race, but on Sunday he could afford to leave his seat in front of the screen for a short time. With hardly any overtaking opportunities, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton remained trapped in fifth and seventh place.

A sobering result, although Wolff admits: "That's exactly where we are at the moment." In the constructors' championship, the "Silver Arrows" are currently only in fourth place behind Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and McLaren.

Used day for Red Bull
The Bulls had a similarly disappointing day. While Sergio Perez was forced to retire after just a few seconds following a spectacular crash, Max Verstappen was unable to get out of the traffic jam and ended up in sixth place between the Mercedes drivers.

Meanwhile, local hero Charles Leclerc snatched victory, finally breaking the spell after some bitter memories and smiling from the top step of the podium at home.
