Fire alarm at Isosport industrial plant

A fire at the Isosport company caused a large-scale fire department operation in Eisenstadt on Friday.

The wailing of sirens could be heard throughout the provincial capital on Friday afternoon and several fire department vehicles raced through the city towards Industriestrasse with their blue lights flashing. The scene of the emergency was the plastics company Isosport, where a fire had broken out. The column of smoke could be seen far beyond Eisenstadt. As this was a large company, the highest alert level was immediately triggered for the emergency services. However, this was primarily a precautionary measure. According to the Eisenstadt city fire department, the fire itself was confined to a production area. The employees were evacuated from the building.

Trigger not known
After around an hour, the flames were finally brought under control. There were no casualties. It was not yet clear what caused the fire. Initial assumptions were that it was a technical defect.

The company Isosport manufactures plastic composite materials for the ski and snowboard industry as well as other sectors.
